I got home about an hour and a half ago after a full day of work and three games of volleyball that we managed to lose in excruciatingly close fashion. They were one of the better teams, so to not win at least one was disappointing after playing so well as a team. That leaves us at 11-10 for the year, decidedly mediocre.
Anyway, I was very sweaty and pretty tired, so I decided to go ahead and walk the dog before I went inside to clean up. It was a little earlier than usual because she is very easily spooked and it is therefore much better to walk her late when there aren't a lot of people and other dogs around that she is unfamiliar with.
I was tired enough that I decided to chance it. We got about four blocks from home when two joggers came around the corner right at us. I saw them making the turn and tried to cross the street with the dog before they got to us, but there were two cars coming, one in each direction, so I couldn't. Then my dog noticed the joggers and pretty well freaked out.
She flipped around and slipped off of her collar and leash and ran in the opposite direction. At this point it is nearly dark out, but she is a white dog, so I see her turn down the wrong street. After close to an hour of looking, I finally found her and she slinked up to me. I am very relieved she didn't run out in front of a car or get lost.
All is well that ends well (except for losing three volleyball games) and she is safe and sound. Oh, I also got a phone call from a long time friend tonight. Apparently I forgot their birthday was today, so I feel like a complete bonehead for that. Very fun evening all around, and I am still a sweaty, tired mess.

So would Tuesday still be better than Monday even with all of that craziness? Your dog's antics made me think of what would happen if I tried to walk my cat.
Still better than Monday. Tomorrow will be even better.
My brother had a cat named Jerry Lee (after Jerry Lee Lewis) that would follow you around like a dog. It would go to about the end of the street before it decided it had had enough and would go back home to sleep or chase a leaf or whatever else cats do all day. Never tried it with a leash though.
Good to hear you found your dog. Always scary when your dog is running around loose crossing streets and whatnot.
I have the same issue with my dogs when I walk them...they freak when they see other dogs. People are ok usually.
Thanks Kevin. I am not taking any chances tonight - I am just now headed out to walk her.
